Hello! My name is Jean-Philippe Torunski, but most people call me JP. I used to work in the tech industry where I worked in various startup companies, working crazy hours and delivering successful products. Eventually I got burned out and decided to take time off to spend with my family.

One day I had a huge dying tree in my back yard with big branches hanging over the roof of the house. It needed to be brought down, and carefully. One false move could send a couple hundred pounds of wood crashing down, let alone send me tumbling to certain injury and possible death.

I thought that it might be fun to do it myself.

Bit by bit, I taught myself how to climb, how to cut branches, how to set rigging lines and safely bring down heavy limbs. Always starting with something simple, learning the principles, then scaling up.

I discovered that I had a passion for this work that I never knew about; a passion for the work that I never felt before doing any other job. I could feel in my bones that I was born to do this.

I also gained a lot of respect for the arborist profession and learned just how much more there was to know. But my passion propelled me as I gradually gained experience and knowledge. Over a series of years I honed my craft, started doing work for friends, and eventually taking on jobs as a pro.

One thing is sure: This is the greatest job in the world. Allow me to share with you my love of a good job done well.
